La Crescent and Marquette are just a few of the wine grapes name dropped in a recent InsideHook article discussing the many virtues of hybrid grape varieties. From disease resistance to cold hardiness, the biggest barrier to hybrid grape acceptance is public willingness to purchase the (often excellent!) wines they produce. While calling them "lab-grown grapes" is overstating it a bit, this positive publicity for hybrid grapes can go a long way toward promoting their acceptance amongst consumers.
