Petite Pearl is a cold-hardy hybrid cultivar bred using a cross between MN 1094 and E.S. 4-7-26. Its background includes V. vinifera, V. riparia and V. labrusca, and it is highly resistant to powdery and downy mildew, as well as being resistant to black and bunch rot. Since its release in 2010, it has been widely adopted by Minnesota growers, who appreciate its higher tannin levels compared to other cold-hardy red grape varieties.
