I have had an interest in plant physiology and am excited to explore the relationship between
grapes and insect pest phylloxera in terms of hormone regulations, etc. My Master’s thesis
focused on mapping coincident QTL for multiple quantitative traits in barley, and I am interested
in transferring what I have learned in barley genetics to grapes and relating it to biochemistry,
physiology, through which grapes interact with phylloxera. Transitioning into the Ph.d program, I
am excited for opportunities for teaching and learning about outreach, the practical outcome of
research.
