David Tork

Undergraduate Researcher (UROP)

David is an undergraduate senior studying Plant Science with an emphasis on plant breeding.  He is currently working to validate QTL for color and malic acid in one of the hybrid grape populations within the UMN grape breeding program.  This work, which is funded by the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), should provide insight into the genetic control of these traits, and expedite the breeding process for these traits through use of marker-assisted selection.  After receiving his B.S. from the University of Minnesota, David hopes to continue his study of plant breeding in graduate school.
